How to resize a photo to exact pixels
- Upload your photo with the upload box above.
- Choose a preset: Passport Photo (350 × 450 px), Signature (300 × 120 px), Exam Photo (200 × 230 px), Square (1080 × 1080 px) or Full HD (1920 × 1080 px). Or type your own width and height.
- Keep Exact Size (1x) selected for forms. Choose Double Size (2x) only if you want a larger copy for printing or viewing.
- Press Crop & Resize, check the preview and download the JPG.
Crop first, then resize
Changing a photo to a different shape by simply squeezing it makes faces look stretched. This tool first crops the photo to the shape you asked for and only then scales it to the exact pixel size. When the photo is taller than the target shape, the crop is moved a little toward the top, which usually keeps the head and forehead in frame better than a mathematically exact centre crop.
Why the result stays sharp
Shrinking a large photo in one jump throws away detail all at once and tends to look soft. The tool halves the image in steps while it is much larger than the target, then makes the final resize, and applies a light sharpening pass at the end. The file is saved as a high-quality JPG on a white background.
Pixels are not the same as file size
A form can ask for both pixel dimensions and a file size. Resizing sets the pixels. It does not target a number of kilobytes. If your portal also has a size limit, resize first and then use the image compressor to bring the file under the limit.
Check the exact numbers on your form
- The presets are common sizes, not the rules of any particular exam. Official notifications differ and change, so always use the width and height written in yours.
- If the form gives sizes in centimetres or millimetres, look for the pixel size it also states, or ask the portal helpline how to convert it.
- Treat the two numbers as one shape. Changing only one of them changes the crop, so check the preview before you download.
Tips for a better result
- Start with the original photo from your camera, not a copy that has been shared through a chat app and compressed already.
- Use good light and a plain background, with your face looking straight at the camera.
- If the target is larger than your photo, the tool has to enlarge it, which cannot add detail. Use a bigger original if you can.
Limits
Each side can be up to 8000 pixels, including the 2x option. Very large sizes may fail on older phones. The output is always a JPG.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is resized in your browser and never sent to our servers. See the privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 1x and 2x?
1x gives exactly the width and height you entered. 2x gives double the width and height, so the file has four times as many pixels. Most forms need 1x.
Will my face be stretched?
No. The photo is cropped to the right shape before it is resized, so nothing is squeezed.
Part of my head is cut off. What can I do?
Use a photo where there is more space around your head and shoulders, because the tool only crops and never adds background.
Can I resize a signature?
Yes. Photograph your signature on plain white paper in good light, then use the Signature preset or your own size.
